i have a old international tractor, 60's? i can not get any fuel out of the pump, fuel to it but none out. is this pump servicable? tractor number is 5238 400 D W. name on pump is hartford machine screw company, mod # dbgfc6291ae manufacture # is 278345R91. is there a parts schematic breakdown for this pump? it ran last year.

check for spider webs in pump involves taking apart I know it sounds silly but they love deisel and have a habit of getting in where they should not be webs can block fuel lines if they are big enough if sat all winter

I also have some idle issues which I attributed to worn or weak injectors but maybe the pump now. Occasionally, at idle it will back fire on the right side only and only out the pipes. Nothing spectacular but it cleans up some of the smoke when it happens. Also, the idle will change of its own accord.

2 reasons for idle instability. 1) The pivot is worn that the delivery valve linkage works against. It will hang just a bit, then the gov will compensate and the speed will change too much.

or 2) The drive which runs the governor weights is riveted together with a flexible element sandwiched between 2 pieces of steel. This flexible element fails and the weights and weight retainer are free to "float" causing instability.
