hi
I have a problem about de 10 pump(stanadyne), equips to JOHN DEERE 4045 engine. It can cranks but will not start. I bleed the fuel system for low pressure and high pressure. It was just same. Then I check the electrical system, Crankshaft sensor , fuel temperature sensor, air intake manifold air temperature sensor was normal ,but the injection pump solenoid don't work. The solenoid resistance is 0 ohm, voltage is 8.9V and not vary when engine crank. I don't know that the state is normal or not. Can someone tell me that is normal or failure??
I think to the fuel system or ECM was fault? Can someone give me an idea to repair.
and what do install the de 10 pump?( it have not the key for the inject time)
Thanks

I can't believe its taken this long for someone to answer this, you've more than likely already fixed your problem, but just in case and for future readers here ya go.

1. in asking about a ECM problem more information is needed, such as what type of equipment its in, year etc... because there are infinite variables regarding computers, no computer, type of ECM etc...

2. you've already answered your own question: IE: the fuel solenoid is not working = won't crank no matter what your pressure is.

but kudos to you for checking the other sensors, because on a lot of different equipment especially 4045's used on compressors, generators etc... the solenoid can be shut off by safety switches that protect the engine and compressor or generator from permanent damage. The safety switches:
1. Engine Oil Pressure: This is a normally open switch that closes with 15 PSI of engine oil pressure.
2. Engine Coolant Temperature: This is a normally closed that opens a 220° F.
3. Compressor Oil Temperature: This is a normally closed switch that opens at 245°F.All above switches are usually in series with the power feed to the engine fuel solenoid. If any of the switches open, power to the solenoid is lost and the engine shuts down

On a typical 12v system (or really any system) you can actually disconnect the wire from the solenoid and run a "jumper" wire to a known good 12v source (+) to check and see if it starts. (I recommend using a in-line fuse on the jumper)
If its a 2-wire system then one is + and the other - (make sure you identify them) the negative will go to a ground somewhere.
If its a 1 wire solenoid, the the wire is always +.

0 ohm with only 8.9v should throw up a red flag!
if the 4045 is on a compressor / generator usually it falls into the following:

Fuel Solenoid:
Pull-in Coil 35 to 45 (Current Draw (Amps)at 12.5 Vdc and 0.2 to 0.3 Resistance—Cold (Ohms)
Hold in coil: Current Draw (Amps) at 12.5 Vdc 24 to 29 and 24 to 29 Resistance—Cold(Ohms)

otherwise usually the following is true: (not always, but usually) especially on tractors, marine engines, etc...

You can test from the solenoid positive cable to ground with a multimeter, set it in the "Ohms" mode
(being sure the solenoid is isolated and not hooked to another power source)
A good solenoid typically shows around 20 Ohms for most Deisel engines
No resistance will indicate a shorted solenoid. While infinite resistance means a burned-out solenoid.
in either case, simply replace it.

Hope this helps you, or anyone else that see's this thread.
Have a nice day!

hi
diesel101
thanks for your reply, now the engine can start. the engine equips to vactor city machine, and now it can start. i think the cause is air in the fuel system. i was surprise why difficulty to bleed the air in system? the fuel pump is stanadyne de 10 electrcal rotor distribution pump.
have you a means to bleed the air of de10 pump.
