i have a john deere 3150 tractor with starting issues. when tractor has from a full tank of fuel down to about  a 1/4 tank it will start everytime, whether that is everyday or sitting a week between uses. when below a quarter you have to ether it to start if it has not been started in a day or two. it has a stanadyne injection pump with about 150 hrs on pump rebuild. this problem was there before the rebuild & is still there. i am leaning towards something on the return side of the system, but dont really know.any ideas? also, after you start the tractor with the ether it will start fine by itself all day long. thanks

A very common problem......so I have found it to be the supply pump isn't providing enough fuel at cranking speed. If you can get a new gear pump, it should solve the problem.....otherwise, add an electric boost pump just for cold starting. After it is started, the electric pump must be shut off because it will affect the timing.

John Deeres have a screen between the fuel tank and the engine, usually right after the fuel leaves the tank. I,ve seen it many times, that the screen gets plugged up. And this is the result. While there, also look for rotton rubber hoses in this area.

'We've sold 7 engines in 4 months through DieselEngineTrader.com - one to Utah, three to South Dakota, one to New York, one to Kansas and one locally in Wisconsin! I also advertise in other publications but DieselEngineTrader.com gets the best results and at a great price too! I like the way that my engines are shown at the top of Google searches and DieselEngineTrader.com will definitely be playing a major part in my advertising from now on.'

'I listed a surplus Watermota diesel on DieselEngineTrader. It took a few months to sell, but I was delighted as the engine was quite obscure and I never thought anyone would buy it!'

'We've sold at least 6 engines through DieselEnginetrader.com - it's great value advertising.'
