I have a kubota TG1860 diesel. So I thought that it was time to change the oil. Everything went o.k. until I checked the dipstick to check the oil level. I could not read the stick(too clear),so I thought I would use a wood stick to check the oil level.Well the small stick slipped out of my fingers and into the oil pan( a stupid idea), Now how am I going to get that "stick"out?

I suspect the wooden stick has not fallen all the way down through the tube that guides the dipstick. If such is the case you may be able to stick a sharpened wire or something appropriate to stick in the end of the wooden stick and pull it out. Good luck.

Thanks,Dieselnuts. The wooden stick has fallen thru the tube. It is somewhere in the oil pan. Any other ideas as to correct this problem? How much will this hurt the operation of the tractor? As I see it I have two chocies, one drain the oil and see if I can locate the stick. Two, take the oil pan off and replace it! Thanks

I’m not sure how difficult this might be but I’d be taking the pan down and making sure I got that stick out before operation. I was once cleaning out the inside of the oil pan of a gas engine and inadvertently left a sheet of paper towel in the pan. After about 500 miles the paper towel got all shredded and plugged up the sump and starved the engine for oil and we had to replace the engine.

Again, Good Luck and Cheers, Dieselnuts
