How to bleed air out of 6.2L fuel pump and injectors?

I just bought an 86 Chevy full size van with a 6.2L in it.
I just made a stupid newbie mistake and changed the fuel filter out and put the new one in empty (no diesel in it).
Now I guess I have air in my pump and injectors and it will not start. (turned it over for ten minutes)

So, what is the easiest way to bleed the air out?

Start by checking the filter and see if it is full. If not fill it with clean diesel and replace. If you replaced both do the same with your secondary filter too.
I would then take the lines off a few injectors being careful not to loosen the injector itself and turn the engine over some to see if fuel is getting to the injector. I would be careful not to run the starter for a long time as this will over heat and damage it.
I have heard that by placing a rag soaked in gasoline over the air intake, it will assist in getting it started but be cautious not to turn it over when the glow plugs are on as this will damage the eng. Also be careful not to let it get sucked into the eng.
This should do the trick.
