85 6.2 bad oil leak

Recently changed the injection pump, and the intake manifold. There were two hoses connected to the original intake. Left them disconnected and plugged the one hole in the
repacement manifold. Thought fresh air was better than crankcase fumes. Where there was no oil leak before, it is leaking about 1 quart in 30 miles from the back of the engine.
This is my first V8 diesel, and I don't know much about it. Is there a pipe on the back of the engine or has it blown the rear seal? Do the hoses need to be reconnected to create
some relief on crankshaft pressure? I'm lost on this one and would appreciate any help.
