Im interested in a Ford Ln 8000 dump w/ a Cat 3208. I haven't actually seen the truck yet but would like some info on this engine . Any idea what the horsepower rating is? I know it probably varies, but im assuming it's 250hp. Anything in particular I should know about the 3208, any quirks or design problems? Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert on the matter, but here's what I know.

3208's were parent-bore blocks (no liners) like a V-8. It is a V8 diesel. They were called "throw-away" engines because once they got wore out you had to bore the block and start over. They were mainly used in off-road sprayers and cranes around Iowa at least. Parts are getting expensive (genuine) because they are dying out. They were a high RPM engine for a diesel, and could be turbocharged.

Hope it helps some
