I have a 3116 CAT engine in a truck that has 53000 miles on it. According to CAT the engine has 2000 hours on it.

The engine is leaking oil from the front of the engine and out of the area by the fuel pump. It has a fair amount of blowby out of the tube at bottom of the engine and out of the cap on the valve cover area.

There is no oil leaking from either of these just in the areas in the front of the engine.

The engine does not smoke. It runs well and has plenty of power.

The CAT dealer told me that the engine needs to be rebuilt. This vehicle belonged to a national fleet company with a regular maintenance schedule on their trucks… this one included. Is it possible for this engine to be worn out?

Any suggestions are appreciated.
