I have a 1991 GMC topkick with a 3116 CAT (65K miles), changed the fuel filters and started back up. It ran about 5 minutes then stopped. The primary fuel filter had a split in it and the truck ran out of fuel. I replaced the split filter and filled both filters up with fuel. Will not start. Do I need to prime the system? I am not a diesel mechanic, just service my own. Any help would be appreciated.

If it doesn't have a hand primer (which it probably doesn't) you may need to loosen the fuel line just before the fuel pump and put some air pressure in the tank by using an air gun and some rags wrapped up. Care must be taken NOT to put too much pressure in the tank. It may take a minute or so to get fuel out of the line, but it will come....be patient. And don't go overboard with the air.....be patient....a small amount is all you need....be patient. When you get fuel to the pump, put the line back on and try starting it again. It may still take a bit of cranking, so crank for 30 seconds and let the starter cool for a few minutes and crank again. Repeat it a few times and you should have it. I'm sure it has an intake heater so DON'T use starting fluid!

'Your website is working well for me - This month I have shipped engines to Canada, South America and several in the USA. Thank You.'

Jim Williams, Diesel Power Train Co. Colbert, USA

'I had hundreds of "hits" on your website which generated 5 or 6 inquiries from all over the world; Germany, The Philippines, Korea, Sweden, and Spain. I sold all 3 of my engines to a buyer from South Korea. Your website was invaluable to me in selling these engines; no other ads that I ran produced any inquiries.'

Gary Sommerfeld, Manager, Marine Operations, Phillips Cruises & Tours, Anchorage, Alaska

'We've sold at least 6 engines through DieselEnginetrader.com - it's great value advertising.'
