The twin turbo engines I would stay away from, they have problems with the turbos breaking bolts, to much weight hanging out there, I would try to find a straight C-15...

Low pressure turbos can cause problems , standard fuel filter heads also, vva studs coming loose or breaking ( unless they have been changed ) water pumps shearing the shaft , bendix compessors ( single ) causing vibrations , diverter valve solenoids playing up - 475 hp were pretty good 500 and 550 were the ones that gave more trouble Regards David

Just my thoughts on your vibration. C-15 mxs bxs are known to break V V A studs. Once you get used to hearing what one sounds like with 1 or 2 studs broken you can pick them out fairly easily. I would try having the overhead set. While doing so have them remove all the V V A housing and inspect the studs it only adds about a hour to the job. When these engine first came out we had a bunch of guys complaining of vibrations and low power. You could do a cylinder cutout test and V V A response test and they always came out ok. You would dyno the truck and the hp would be just below nominal so you would just cut it loose. The driver would swear that it ran better when it was new. One day I just started removing V V A housings when I was adjusting the overhead on a engine that sounded al little funny and I found 1 broken stud. I replaced all because there was a PI letter at the time and low and behold it ran so much better. After that I found many more and I could pick them out just by the way they sounded. Pretty smooth with just a little shake or uneveness Just my 2 cents Other wise I think these are great engines. As long as they have the updated V V A studs, turbo studs and nuts, Latest software, we dont see a lot of problems with these.
