are there any cat doctors out there that kno were a guy can buy a genuine cat software disk . im verry good on a laptop i just want to alter some factory settings i think you get the idea. i would like the software disk for a c-15 cat from 05 -07 is it possible to buy it or a buned copy any one ?

almost all software now has to be downloaded from the internet from secure sites. these companys dont want to jeopardize anyone's business foresay. you could purchase some types of software that will let you do minor adjustments such as speed and things of that nature, but to actually go in and change rating parameters and flash the ecm to different types of software, you just cant do. if you are not careful and put in wrong software, very hard to get it back to where it was before and could possibly ruin the ecm and make it "unprogrammable". everyone is wanting more horsepower for some reason. can you really tell a difference in 10 hp? leave it alone man, and when others are building engines, you keep running and hauling loads.

thanks for your reply but i dont totally agree i have a buddy that got his ecm tweeked on his truck an 05 star with a 515 detroit now it pulls like a tiger and also went from 3.5 - 5 mpg on super b-s im not stupid and i kno that a c-15 550 is capable of turning out much more than factory specs you wont damage it if your careful on the peddle. smile

I agree that increasing the horsepower on a Cat is a good thing. I haven't seen any downside to it yet. Yes there probably is a limit to how far you shouild go. We have seen an increase in fuel economy on most of the engines we uprated if the driver knows how to use it properly.
There were discs available in 2005 with the flashfiles on them. Thats all we used before we could just download them off the net. You might be able to work with them. We always had to get a password from Cat to get the software to work but I'm sure you could get around that.
There may be some discs still out there . Are you just looking for a flashfile disk or do you need more?

There is a place in St. George,Utah that reprogrames ECM's. They can get around the cat passwords and make the engine do what ever you want. The name of their place is performance diesel Inc. Their number is 800-511-1231 and they have a web site at pdidiesel.com. It is not cheap but if you have to ask you cant afford it anyway. The next thing you can do to get 40-50 horse is put a fuel temp harness on the sec. fuel filter base temp sensor. This will trick the ecm into thinking that the fuel is hot and hot fuel does not have the btu's that cooler fuel does so the ecm will up the fuel and more hp. I make these harnesses and have had very good feedback from everyone that has purchased them. Most of the time the fuel mileage will go up but that all depends on how hard a person drives. PS you can buy a ecm programmer from nexiq prolink that will do speed and other simple things and sometimes you can program injector codes but you would need the codes. The last option is to look on e-bay there you can type in caterpillar ecm and there are ecm's already programmed. I hope this helps you. Paul

well if i could i would like the whole disk but a flash file on injector codes and timing would be great also if possible to minimize the e g r settings too

Depending on what you want done and changed, it may be more cost effective for you to have your ecm programed by one of the many guys out there that can do it. If you want to do more than just one truck and want to get into the programing end of it, you can purchase CAT ET along with keygens off the internet from different sellers out there. Almost all are from over seas and are of course pirated software with hacks to get around the factory CAT passwords. Be aware that when shopping for these you will need to have a keygen that will make passwords for reason 5, this is the one needed to flash an ecm with a new flash file. You will also need to obtain the actual file itself either on a disk or there are other sites where I have seen them posted for download. It all really comes down to how much you want to spend and how much you know about plugging into an ecm. If your keygen doesn't work and you flash an ecm without the right passwords, it can render the ecm inoperable and will need to be washed or replaced, not cheap. Good idea to obtain a spare ecm just incase. Check around on digital-kaos.co.uk for other downloads and information. Good Luck.

Good morning Sir .I am new on the Forum and I need some help and I hope you can direct me or give me some insight . I just completed a engine swap I went from a 6ts c15 to a 6nz c15 the 6ts had a liner problem with 800,000 miles on it . When I started it yesterday it flashed a 111-2 invalid coolant level the fan is staying on and the coolant level light is on . All the levels are OK I am wondering it it has something to do with the chasis that the engine came out of Mine is a 97 pete and the engine came from a 2001 pete I am desperate . Also on the old engine I had a diode on the fuel temp . where does it go on the 6nz the sensers are different. Thanks
