hi I have a oil leak on a 98 n-14 there is a plate behind the compresser toward the bottom of the block, it looks like this is where the oil is leaking, when its running I can see air bubbles coming out. there are 3 of these plates, but only the front is leaking. what are these plates? can they be resealed? why would air be coming out of it? thanks for any info moe

Those are the cam followers, Its a pretty commons problem with the N14s. Its not a real hard job just time consuming, You will have to pull the compressor off, remove valve covers, pull rockers and pushrods out. The gaskets that are leaking are actually shims too that set the timming of the valve train so when you install new ones make sure you get the same thickness of what was removed.

hi thanks for the advice, Im trying to pull the compressor, will it pull out without messing with the front cover? iv done one on a detroit and it pulled right out, but I can not get this one out. will the gear fit through? do I need to pull the pullys off the front? thanks for any help you could give me.
