Anyone decode this? O6RE003847. My book doesn't have anything on remans. Can you tell if it was sold as a long block or short? HP rating? Anything? It has A DDEC4 on the side, comp says 500 HP. But I'd like to know the injectors, cam, new or old style pistons and hopefully approximate mfg date. Bought a Classic with this engine, steam through the blow by tube. Yea. Bought it as junk, owner abandoned it 2 yrs ago at a local trucking company. Apparently couldn't afford to fix it. Went through the BS of getting a " Sheriffs Title" so I could get the truck. Engine looks new but has the original ECM on it so I can't tell anything for sure about the engine. As new as it looks I would have guessed it was still under warranty. Anyway, Id appreciate any info I can get on this engine.

When a reman engine is sold it supposed to be reprogrammed to the original engine sr #. However we see these all the time with the old ecm on there and NOT programmed. My advise is to find out what is in the little box. That will tell you what you have. BTW, if you purchase a reman engine the programming is free. BUT you have to purchase it from a DDA distrib. or someone who can download the program. We call DDC and ask them to 'clone' such&such sr# to the old #. They call us back and say done then we reprogram the new sr # to the old spec's.

Busy, busy, busy. I haven't been able to determine yet the exact cause of the steam through the blow by tube/dipstick. I've eliminated the easy to check items. Been so busy with everything else breaking down. Hopefully this weekend I can do a quick tear down of the top end and get lucky and find a bad head gasket. Hopefully this reman engine is a duplicate of the original engine. The original door sticker decodes to a 500 hp 12.7 and the ECM on this reman is set to 500. I guess when I get the head off I'll write down the injector numbers and cam number so I know what I have. The ECM shows 1.2 mil total engine hours, below that is shows 48K trip miles. I probably couldn't get lucky enough for that to be the miles on the reman.

'DieselEngineTrader.com is a very good resource. I use it to search for engines I need and have also advertised a Volvo Penta engine and received some genuine inquiries. Our local market is small and DieselEngineTrader.com helps me to reach a worldwide market.'

Dimitris Constantinou, Limassol, Cyprus

'We're thrilled with DieselEngineTrader.com! We sold an old CAT D343 within 1 month of listing and a Cummins engine within 3 months. We were amazed - we didn't think anyone would want them in the condition they were in!'

Stephanie Vaughan, Heavy Equipment Parts, Independence, USA

'We've sold a number of engines via DieselEngineTrader.com - even some that we've had lying around for a few years! It's very useful in getting our inventory seen by a much larger market.'
