detroit 8.2 valve and injector settings help!

can someone help me, I am replacing a head on this 8.2 (1990's) "fuel pinchter" and I don't know the way to set valves and injectors, I can do s60, n-14 but this is my first 8.2!! HELP!! any shop manual for sale? 956-206-3873

If you replace the head,camshaft, block,or install a machined head you need to do the TDC tuneup. Then go around and recheck the settings and record the BC. attatch the label to the rocker cover so the next guy can tune it up. You will need a special tool to set the injectors. Cost about $300 + for a new one. Get a book and it will explain it all. BTW the 8>2 is often referred to as a 'hate 2'. The engine has 2 major faults, the oil pump and the block. It has what they call a 'floating cylinder block because the top of the cylinders are NOT connected to the top of the block. The vibration knocks out head gaskets. Even with the newer larger head bolts. Makes a real nice boat anchor. Yes, I used to work on them. Sorry to hear you own one.

Aaaaaaah yes......the old bathtub block. Only thing worse ever made by GM was the Toro-Flow. Be lucky you don't have one of them.
