i have just purchased a truck with a ddec1 8v92ta ,i have known this truck for awhile before buying it, the only start trouble it had was if the batteries were low from sitting around.drove it home and could'nt start unless we used ether then it would idle for awhile then start misssing then cut out,got it going and drove it to town about 30miles no problem until idle at workshop then started a slight miss but keep running so turned it off. replaced the fuel pump and started ok for about 6 times next morning back to square one, lights on dash are coming on for about 5sec's then going off ,we got a ddec1 reader that say's everything is ok,could it be a split fuel line or something.the detroit man at the shop has admitted defeat on me

try to check fuel filter, once the engine runs, there should'nt be air left in the fuel filter, if 7/8's or less fuel in filter, most likely you'll have a fuel line socking air into the engine good luck!!!!!

All DDEC engines regardless of series WILL have the cel and the sel on for 3 to 5 seconds everytime you start the engine. The computer is checking to make sure that everything is ok. BTW, the DDEC 1 system is nolonger supported from DDC. Someone on the net borrowed my DDEC 1 book and never returned it. Good luck. BTW the trouble shooting is the same as a normal 8V92, just add the DDEC system for fun.

Rarely the sensor. If you remove it wrong to check it you will need the alignment tools to reset it. Look in the book for the proper distance between the sensors and the timing 'tits' behind the pulse wheel.

You MUST have at least 11V to the edu and the ecm for the engine to start. I would say 10.5 but keep it above 10.5. This is DURING CRANKING OF COURSE.

So you think you have fuel, Get a bucket if clean fuel. Place the suction hose from the P filter into the bucket, now run the return line into the bucket. Make sure that both are below the 'fuel'. Start the truck and run until there aer no air bubbles in the system. run for about 5 minutes at fast idle. Shut truck off and restart in the AM. You are not consistant here, first you said it acted like it was missing, drove it then had a slight miss, now you say it takes either to start. Lets clear up the starting concern first. Is that DDEC reader yours or can you have axcess to it for free? Why does the DD guy admit he can't fix this? It is just a 92 with wires. Lets eliminate the mechanical stuff first then get to the electronic's.
