What is the cam P/N you used? Do you see any air bubbles in the fuel tanks? When you set the overhead did you set the injector height to the new cam spec or the old truck spec?

the cam is for a mtu 825. I set the injector hights the same as truck specs also set valve"s the same. cam came from ottawa canada detroit(71422620) is the part # $730.00 the same cam at pdi is $1500.00. I checked for air bubbles none. there is 50,000 of a inch differnts in the cam gear"s do u think that could be it ? I also heard the 11 liter heads are the way to go? or should i use valves from mtu 60 head in mine? my goal is 600 ponys on the ground with dependability,I know u can buy these wild ecms, but for it to stay together for my self i just dont trust in it alone. The cam did make a big differnts in the way she pulls.what would u think a good turbo would be? and thanks for the help stump.

I put this turbo on my 430/470 12.7 after having my ecm reprogramed, which is said to be 600hp and I think this turbo works great...IMO! However, this is the only turbo I have tried other than the stock Garrett. I copied this from one of my other post: I switched the the stock Garrett turbo for a Borg Warner 171702 / S400 that I purchased brand new, not rebuilt (last rebuilt I bought from Detroit cost me over $900 and looked like a piece of junk). I paid $648 + $28 for shipping and no core needed, from Area Diesel Services, Carlinville, IL. So, with the programing and this turbo, this truck is a pleasure to drive!

You will need to set the injector height to the spec on the 825 MTU. There is a difference in the cam gears but I would have to make a call and ask about the differences.
