Hi,

My fan (the one just aft of the radiator) is coming apart. I have bought a new one and wonder if it is possible to change it without taking the assembly off the truck that holds the spindle and fan. I am guessing it will mean working in tight quarters but figure if I can get the bolts out it should be easier as long as the fan blades will squeeze past the radiator shroud. Any thoughts on what method I should use? I have a spring loaded belt tensioner rather than the type you can tighten with a long bolt.

Thanks a million!

Hi,

Just did the job and if anyone wonders, it is quite easy. We took two bolts out of the top of the fan shroud as it is tabbed at the bottom. After pulling the shroud back out of the way we gained easy access to the six bolts that hold the fan in place. The fan slips out the top with ease. Assembly is the reverse and you are good to go!
