The truck charges air normally. However, if you press the accellerator and let go between 75 and 100 it starts leaking from one tank rapidly and stops and recharge when it reaches 50. The leak seems to come from around the turbo or EGR valve.

If the tank is charged beyond 100, it leaks only about 1 LB and stops when the accellerator is released. Also, if you press the brake pedal while the air is leaking, the leak stops.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

If the air system is drained then first thing the aircompressor does is to charge the entire system. You will note that the turbo linkeage is all the way down at this point. The turbo does not spin it's normal rpm until the air system in the truck is up to about 100 psi. Also the egr valve is it is air operated does not operate until about 100 psi AND the egr valve closes on any rapid throttle operation. Keeping these things in mind there are 2 V-pods on the side of the engine down by the oil pan/flywheel area. [only 1 for later engines that controls the turbo operation, the egr valve is controled by oil pressure on later engines]. So the V-pod waits for 100 psi [approx.] to allow air to travel to the turbo. Normal air to the turbo will be only 35 psi to 80 psi. The reduction in air pressure is done at the V-pod. The computer controls air pressure sent to the turbo/egr valve. There is to be NO leakeage of air at this time. None. Normal startup allows all the air to build up uninterupped. If you have an air leak from the V-pod[s] that needs to be replaced. Also check the turbo actuator on the side of the turbo for leaks. V-pods can be replaced with no special settings. However the turbo actuator will need the special program in DDDL laptop programs to reset after the replacement actuator is replaced. DO NOT FIDDLE WITH THE SMALL SETSCREW ON THE SIDE OF THE TURBO---- YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE TURBO IF YOU MESS WITH IT....

wow gf, you explained that to where i even understand what you are talking about. good descriptions. my opinion is i dont like the set up on those egr'd engines. all of the components go bad too often. vpods, turbos, egr valves, egr coolers, speed sensors, tco temp sensors, friggin delta p sensors, tubes, base....the vanes in the turbo not responding, egr leak boost power, boost jake, I HATE CODE 39!!

Thanks GF for the advise. I had already changed one VPOD 2 months before due to a air leak. Today I changed the other one too with no luck. We even changed the VPOD's to check whether the one replaced had gone bad again.

Something I failed to mention before is that when I turn the switch on (before cranking), I hear two bursts of air leaking around the EGR valve and stops. I hate to keep changing parts as the DD dealer will not take back the parts once they are installed. Prolink IQ doesnt show any faults. Any more advise to narrow down the fault will be greatly appreciated.
