I was watching a video on youtube the other day and the guy mentioned that his engine was a 14.7L series 60 Detroit. Having never heard of such a thing, I just assumed he had the 12.7l and the 14l confused. Then yesterday I was looking at the camshaft section in my manual and sure enough there was a 14.7L series 60 mentioned. I did a Google search and found very little but it appears that it was either military or exclusive to Australia. I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about it?

you say in the camshaft section of the manual, can you be a little more specific? This sounds interesting. I've never heard of such a thing but that sure would be cool

I have the "Detroit Diesel Series 60 Master On-Highway Service Manual" on CD. Under "Camshaft and Camshaft Bearing" there's a table for camshaft timing setting dimensions. There's 2 listings for a 14.7L. The first is a HK_E model, DDEC IV, 2002-2003, cam # 23531130. The second is a HV_E model, DDEC V, 2004, cam # 23532935.

Unfortunately my manual says 14.0 I am pretty sure that it is just a typo. As far as the guy with the 14.7 on you tube, If it is the one I think, I wouldn't expect someone who mounts their "RAM AIR" intake behind the cab (unless they changed it in the last couple years) to get their engine displacement right.

You're probably right about it being a typo. It would have been nice to have a bigger series 60 though

All Australian series 60 after 2003 were 14litre engines
