confused I have an 81 Chevy Caprice Clasic Diesel 5.7L

My first question: Loss of power and LOTS of blue smoke... why? Is it the injector pump?

Second: How would I time this engine? I know about the marks on the injector pump, but what about the engine it self?
If it needs to be timed... not sure.happy

Your engine timing is your injection pump timing. Nothing else. The blue smoke is usually oil passing the rings and burning in the cylinder, however it can be several things. I would start with compression tests. If your injection pump is shot, which I dont think it is, your engine needs a rebuild also. -Frank

Ok thanks... about the several things? What sort of things?... I'm still abit new to diesel mechanics.

Maybe I over estamated the blue smoke, but it does seem excessive.

Someone also mentioned that this year injector pump, had problems with some little "ball" inside.
Know anything about this?

Maybe you can tell, I would like to avoid a rebuild if possable.(another truck needs that) Easy and Cheap is the key here.

'Your website is working well for me - This month I have shipped engines to Canada, South America and several in the USA. Thank You.'

'I did receive quite a few calls from the add - thanks for the service.'

Bill Aldridge, Environmental Rainwater Solutions, Wilmington, USA

'I had hundreds of "hits" on your website which generated 5 or 6 inquiries from all over the world; Germany, The Philippines, Korea, Sweden, and Spain. I sold all 3 of my engines to a buyer from South Korea. Your website was invaluable to me in selling these engines; no other ads that I ran produced any inquiries.'
