I have a 1984 6.9 in a1993 ford F350. It gets air into the fuel system . When this happens the motor shuts off . To get it started I have to bleed the fuel filter while cranking the motor over until fuel comes out, then the motor will start and run for 2-3 hrs till I shut it off and leave it over night, then it will start and run for only a second then shut off. Then I have to bleed it again. It has a new mechanical fuel pump.

You may have this problem solved by now; but if not, it sounds like you need a replacement set of fuel return lines and caps for the injectors. this includes the "O" rings . These are available online. You can apply low air pressure to the fuel system after the lift pump and check for leaks. The fuel return has to be in top condition to get good engine performance.
