There is a weep hole on the C-15 water pumps. The newer ones have a freeze plug with a small spill port installed.
You shouldn't see any coolant coming out of the weep hole. I would say that the water pump seal is starting to fail.
Time to put a reman pump on.

You can buy some time by the sounds of it. I would keep a close eye on it. I think 8hrs to change the pump out is a little excessive.
I'm not really sure on the price....I would check the price on a reman pump. Maybe find a Cat guy close to you that may want to make a quick buck on the weekend.....it's not a bad job, you may even consider doing it yourself.

if its an acert engine, the labor should be between 6 and 8 hours...lots of disassembly on those things. need to put new thermostats and go ahead and change coolant also as well.

if coolant is weeping out of the hole then your water pump needs to be repaced, I had mine done last year by carter cat at a total cost of $1000.00 including labor, parts and taxs.happy

'It took at least 4 weeks before we got our first enquiries for the 28 engines we listed - 3 months on we are making 3 to 4 sales per month! We're really pleased and I like the the feature that shows how many views our engines get.'

Pete Melhuish, Northwest Diesel Parts, Portland, Oregon, USA

'We had a Mercedes engine in stock for over a year but were unable to sell it in Belgium - it was an unusual specification for generator use. Once we listed it on DieselEngineTrader.com, we sold it to a customer in England! We get regular enquiries from customers across the world.'
