I have a 3208 in a boat serial #is 75V3511. AR # 6N3030. This boat is a gimme so not much history but this is what I know as told by one person who was on it last time it ran. While out fishing he started to hear a tick or . knock or some thing and over time engine lost power and eventually quit running. Here is what I know so far. Engine cranks and turns over easy then acts like a gas engine that is out of time or to much advance timing, but will not start. I have yet to inspect Injection pump for issues and will be checking timing and for stuck rack and fuel shut off. I suspect I will have to tear down engine but do not wish to start doing so until I have more info. I suspect a blown head gasket alowing compression to enter another cylinder on up sstroke causing the engine to stop turning. Any info would be appreciated. Not new to diesel but 20 years out of practice.

It sounds like overfueling one cylinder and locking up. Probably blew a tip off an injector or injectors. Check your oil for indications of fuel contamination. Compression from one cylinder leaking into another would go the opposite way on the other stroke so that doesn't seem like your problem. Your centrifical advance could have somehow broke or stuck in the advanced stage. Try disconnecting the fuel shut off and cranking it over with no fuel going to the injectors.

3208's are throwaways but I agree with Joe.
