i have a 4ck 3406c engine in a 1993 pete and it seems to lack some power. anybody know what the factory fuel pressure should be. boost is good but when you get in it loaded the fuel pressure drops to 19 psi and 17 is in the red so almost there, like the filters r plugged but they r new. was maybe thinking the transfer pump might be getting weak. blew through all the fuel lines and they are only a couple years old.fuel pressure would read between 38 and 42 when it was warmer out and would really never move.

When the engine is operating at full load speed, the fuel transfer pump moves fuel through the secondary filter and the fuel injection pump housing at approximately 240 kPa (35 psi).

To check the fuel transfer pump pressure, disconnect the fuel line from the filter at the fuel injection pump housing inlet. Install a tee at the inlet and connect the fuel line to the tee. Connect a pressure gauge to the tee and start the engine.

Minimum fuel pressure must be 70 kPa (10 psi) of pressure at low idle. Minimum fuel pressure must be 170 kPa (25 psi) at full load speed with the engine under full load.

When you are pulling and the fuel pressure drops, what happens if you get off it? Does the pressure come back?

I just installed a new fuel pressure gauge and it idles at about 35 but drops when in the throttle to probably about 22 I would say, but always returns to 35 off the throttle. oh I installed a new fuel transfer pump too.
