Hey guy's. The department next door has a 1992 6v92 in a fire truck. This truck runs good but it has a light blue smoke at the tail pipe. When I cut off # L-3 injector it will stop. I replaced all six injectors and the still the same. I cut off # L-3 and it will clear up. Here is the question - will the ECM fire more than one injector at a time? ( DDEC 2). If the injector harness has a short between two cylinders would it do this? All three injectors on the left side share the same ground and have a different power wire. Or do we have low compression on that cylinder? Also this engine was inframed in December for a leaking liner O-ring. Appreciate any suggestions....

What oil do you have in it? Only use delo 100 40wt.nothing else.

15w40 Rotella. We have a fleet of about 600 here so we try to make it as simple as we can without keeping an oil room full of every kind of fluid made. At this time we are trying to find a place to keep DEF so it don't end up in a Transmission.

Have a compression test done on it. Most likely since only one cylinder is causing the smoke, it isn't oil related.

Ran the engine for about an hour till it started smoking and removed the exhaust manifold and found oil in it.

Take off the air box cover and look for broken rings...or even pieces of rings in the air box.
