I just acquired a 1-ton dually with a 6.2 diesel. It has what sounds like a rod knock. I am told the engine was just rebuilt professionally. I hunted for help from a friend – he said the knock could be from a fuel-starved cylinder. I need to know how to test and troubleshoot the injectors. Can anyone help?

Start by starting the engine and letting it warm up and leave it running. Then start loosening the fuel lines at the injectors one by one you should notice a drop in rpm if not something is wrong with that cylinder( be sure to tighten the lines before moving on to the next one). This problem you might want to check the injection timing you can get a knock from this.

I was always told that a knock in a diesel was caused by a leaking injector.
