Me and my fiancee left out last friday on an 800 mile trip from north carolina to arkansas in my 1993 GMC crew cab dually with a 6.5 TD. Everything was fine we went about 200 miles and all of a sudden it started making this clinging noise.. i could barely hear it so i turned off the radio and about that time... it got louder and started smoking really bad. I pulled over and discovered it had blown all the oil out of the engine. I know it had oil in the engine when we left because i checked it. I got some oil refilled the oil and drove it 3 more miles to a GMC dealership to see if they could fix it, but thier diesel mechanic was out having surgery so i was forced to have it towed back to north carolina. After i got it home i was looking it over when i found a line that had blown off the turbo. I replaced the turbo line and started it back up and drove it another mile or so.. it ran decent when accelerating but when i stopped and it was itleing it ran like shit... so chances are after i drove it the 3 miles i probably fried my turbo right??..... Or could it be something else??

YOU PROBABLY scored a piston or two. does it have a dead miss when idleing, & is it still smoking? does it knock? remove the intake pipe from the turbo & see iff the impeller spins freely iff it does the turbo is ok.

So did you get a low oil pressure warning light or what did the gage read ?
And what does the oil pressure read now? If it was making noise, something probably got goofed up.
