I have a '94 K3500 with the 6.5 Turbo diesel that was throwing trouble codes constantly. I finally purchased a new PMD and a #9 resistor and mounted the PMD remotely (on the firewall with standoffs to keep air flowing behind it. This eliminated all but one code. It was throwing #35, 36, 39 and 85 (go figure). Prior to replacing the PMD, I had to have the truck towed home twice and once to a mechanic when it stalled and wouldn't start. Now, it's still throwing #35, but doesn't quit or stall and runs great! Another strange thing that happens when I read the codes (via the jumper and dash light monitoring) is that I don't get the #12 (diagnostic working) code before the trouble code. Anyone have any thoughts or experience on this problem?mad

Sounds like a hard fault in the pcm(the main engine computer). GM has had programming errors for certain eproms and snap-on has a listing of them. They use a gas engine computer to power a diesel, go figure. The dash light has never been a good way to get codes, but try erasing it by removing the neg battery cable. Then hook it back up turn the key on and without starting the engine, see if the code is still there. If it is it is probably a hard fault and is probably pcm related, but computer diagnosis is hard by forum.
