I just purchased a 95 K3500 the engine has developed a hard miss at idle it is intermittent but lately has been chugging more than not. also under wide open throttle it does not want to pull any load much past 2600 rpm without sputtering. Sometimes when leaving a stoplight it acts like it is running out of fuel you can push the accelerator but it just starts sputtering and then all of a sudden it cleans up and starts running again. I have changed the fuel filter, drained the fuel tank, added 5 gal. clean fuel and Sea Foam fuel drier to clean up any residual moisture. ( the water in fuel light was on) I completely ran that fuel out of the tank and filled with fresh clean fuel and the problem still persists. also in park when you accelerate the engine past 2000 rpm it will miss. The miss is not rpm related in the sense that it would happen on every revolution of the crank, such as a dead injector, but more like the key was being intermittently switched off and then back on in a split second. Any help would be appreciated very much!

Have someone check the cam position censor should be able to do that with a code reader.

thank you for the suggestion. the service engine light came on yesterday then went back off it probably logged a code. do you know where i can find the codes descriptions.

Who ever has the reader will or should have the code book. I'll bet that you will find thats your problem. I think 95 was a transition year that they made the 6.5 engine and a converted 350 inch Olds engine. so you may need a reader that will only do 1995.
Transition year vehicles are a pain in the A$$ no matter what they are!!

Check the Electric Supply Pump (on rear frame rail) They are notorious for failure. To clarify a few things, The 6.5 was introduced in late 1992, and the 6.2 was a Detroit Diesel NOT a converted Olds. (that was the 350 diesel used in cars and 77-78 pickups.

Do a search on pump mounted driver. It sounds like that is the problem judging from everything I have heard about them. I'm just waiting for mine to go and already have my remote locater ready to install. Lots for sale on ebay.
