I'm working on a International 6 cylinder dry sleeve diesel. One of the sleeves was destroyed and the block will need to be bored for an oversized sleeve. The engine already had the largest sleeves readily available. The company that sells the sleeves said shops will bore the cylinders oversize and put a shim around the sleeve. I'm a machinist and I plan on doing the boring for my brother, who owns the motor. Does anyone have experience with this technique? How much press should I have? I'm assuming they wrap flat shimstock around the sleeve. I can get stainless, or brass shimstock. What is prefered? Any info would be greatly apreciated.

I do not have suck kind of experience. But you can do the approach at your own way. You can add company bored cylinder as spare item If your plan goes wrong than you can save you time with new one. I hope you will get good success ahead.

Earlier Mack diesel engines were dry sleeve also isuzu diesel engines from the earlier 1990's were dry sleeved also. But don't have sufficient knowledge regarding the more recent one since I don't work on them any more.
