This is thrown out there for thought, and discussion over route problem of injector failure on c7. We know that internal spring fail on the injectors. From what route cause is the question. We also know that pump failure also happens, not so much though. When you talk to your local dealer it is not a common problem. But when you run product sales of injectors you find that it is a very fast mover.
Any thoughts on this subject? Will give our thoughts on this if any response or comments come through.disgusted

I have seen injector spring failure as a result of say high mileage. Also high fuel pressures or defective materials.happy

C-7 Huie pumps have a problem with a tapered rollor bearing failing inside the pump. Puts metal in the rail. When the injectors are energized the coils are magnatized drawing the metal in and most likely damaging the injector. Many times the pump is not properly inspected and the injector failures continue. My experience has been that if the pump is replaced, updated or not breaking down. And the oil rail properly cleaned after failure there are minimal injector problems.

all of us know that the economy is in a downfall. if you have noticed in the recent years all companies are looking to reduce cost. this means that cat is also one of these companies. they put a bid out there for a manufacturer to produce a product at such a small cost that it is not a worthy product. has anyone noticed the paint on the engines? the older engines had paint so thick you couldnt break it off with a hammer...burn it off or anything...now after 10000 miles, the engine block is rusted. just another sign of "cheap" suppliers. cat was once the largest, reliable, and expensive engines to have in a truck. look where it is now. the injector failures comes from a chain of unreliable manufacturers and suppliers of parts. my opinion and im sure there are others that agree.

Injectors in my C9 are like the C7's. I have found that removing the injector and viewing the microscopic nozzles under a magnifying glass, about every 80,000 miles or so, most of the time, half of the 4 pin holes in each injector are almost to completely clogged. Scrape with a razor blade clean, blow out with an air hose as best you can and reinstall.. Seems to work for me for the last 400,000 miles.
