This engine is in a Case-IH trencher and has 300 hours on it and is seldom used. Three incompetent mechanics (different person each trip) from the equipment dealer have attempted to repair the engine at an expense exceeding $1025 with no luck. The warranty has expired due to time. Here is the problem. The engine will start and idle. It will not rev up. I changed the fuel filter when this first occurred. The linkage appears to be functioning. The "mechanics" have reset the timing and have replaced one injector. The symptoms remain unchanged. My knowledge of diesel engines is lacking but I feel that something is wrong at the injection pump but I do not know what to look for. The machine ran fine when last used and put in the shelter. All inputs are appreciated. TIA

Sounds as if the fuel control rack is not functioning correctly. I hope you were able to have this resolved. What was the outcome if it was?
