I asked a similar question back in April 2004 -- I wound up buying a 2004 Ford 6 liter F350.

I have 45k miles on it now and the fuel economy has dropped to 14 mpg. I have had numerous people (including some mechanics) tell me to get rid of it, that Ford is abandoning the 6 liter and that it is not a good engine for the long haul.

Mine hasn't had any serious troubles yet -- just the loss in fuel economy (I got 18 mpg when it was new).

Any ideas?

I heard the 2006 Dodge Cummins is a good bet. Anyone have any experience with this one?

Thanks.
