While my boat (with its Bukh engine and bulkhead-mounted tank) sat on the hard for winter storage, the fuel tank emptied into the bilge. We assumed that somehow the tank had sprung a leak, and removed the tank for replacement. But we can't get the tank to leak. Does anybody have any ideas on what might have happened? We say no visible damage to the hosed or engine.

There are several ways I found that are possibilities, 1 someone tried to steal the diesel. 2 there was a loose line and the fuel bled off via a syphon. If you pressurized the tank for low pressure try pressurizing the fuel system w/o the tank. Also try this and this savd my butt once, pull a vacuum on the fuel system and wait. I removed a 16V71 from a drill rig and the operator just barely touched a fitting on the deck plates. I saw the touch when it was done. The engine would start and starve for fuel when I tried to start the reman engine. Also did the tank lean to one side with the fuel in it? Try to get the tank to the same posistion and amount of fill to duplicate the leak. Look very closely at ALL the fuel lines. If they are rubber, replace all of them. If they are any other kind, check very carefully and what looks good might fool you.
Best idea for you yet, develope an engine to run on bilge water. Empty the bilge and fill with desired level of water and sail forever. Just a clever thought.

'It took at least 4 weeks before we got our first inquiries for the 28 engines we listed - 3 months on we are making 3 to 4 sales per month! We're really pleased and I like the feature that shows how many views our engines get.'

Pete Melhuish, Northwest Diesel Parts, Portland, Oregon, USA

'We had a Mercedes engine in stock for over a year but were unable to sell it in Belgium - it was an unusual specification for generator use. Once we listed it on DieselEngineTrader.com, we sold it to a customer in England! We get regular inquiries from customers across the world.'

Rob Verhoeven, Hamofa Engines, Belgium

'We've sold 7 engines in 4 months through DieselEngineTrader.com - one to Utah, three to South Dakota, one to New York, one to Kansas and one locally in Wisconsin! I also advertise in other publications but DieselEngineTrader.com gets the best results and at a great price too! I like the way that my engines are shown at the top of Google searches and DieselEngineTrader.com will definitely be playing a major part in my advertising from now on.'
