Hi Coyote,
I am looking at leasing an F250 with the 6.0 and my salesman buddy assures me that the problems are fixed for the 2004 motors. ( I know he's a salesman but he's never steered me wrong yet). I don't really need a diesel but the new lease rates here in Canada are unbelievable right now and I'm counting on diesel fuel prices not going through the roof as gasoline prices are.

most 60 problems have been eliminated for 2005 models. 04 models had some minor recalls and computer updates but 05 seems to be ok so far....

I am currently operating 6 2005 E450 Vans with the 6.0 diesel and I can tell you positively no, the problems are still there. Everything from injector problems, turbo problems, EGR problems, wiring problems, you name it, they are there. I've also heard from another fleet operator that they are having oil cooler problems as well. The six I have all have less than 25,000 miles, and have been to the dealer numerous times for repairs.

When sending them to a dealer for repairs, you get in line with everyone else having problems. I'd like to here from anyone else who might be having similar problems.

Since my last post here last week, I have had two of the six towed in. Last Thursday, one of the 6.0's lsot all throttle response and would only idle. The wrench light also came on on the dash. According to the owners manual, this is a limp home mode and the problem is in the electronic throttle control.

Limp home from 40 miles away?! Right. I had it towed to the nearest Ford service facility. Tonight, another of the 6.0's just quit. The driver stated that he lost power, the Van blew a lot of blue smoke and died. This one has about 22,000 miles on it and has been in service six months.

Are the problems fixed, hardly. This has been typical of the six 6.0's we operate.

FORD has alot of hard times ahead of them with the 6.0 I have 2 of them and a headache with each of them. Injectors, turbos, egr valves, wiring harness everything but jack it up and run a new truck under it.

Am not understanding all this talk about Ford 6.0 problems. I have a 2004 F250 with the 6.0 and have had no problems in 60,000 miles.
I do a lot of back country 4 wheel driving and pull a heavy trailer. It is not easy driving but I do not abuse the engine and give it the recommended service. Maybe it is a driver problem or maintenance problem and not an engine problem? I had the PCM updated at the Ford dealer about 6 months ago and this gave me much better mileage and I also installed the K & N airflow system which imporved my mileage. Tried the Super Chip but that was a waste of money and I recommend the Ford PCM. I would say that the problems have been fixed!

The company I work for has 3 ,05" - 06" F350-550 all under 70,000 k, 2 of these have SO far posed any problems, HOWEVER one 06" has been nothing but ,finally ford has installed a complete new engine. This is the one truck thats actually worked, but if your buying a 550 isnt that the point? Lack of Maintinence isnt an issue as we maintain these ourselves as per fords heavy duty service schedule
Our Ford parts man is telling us fords testing the 5.9 Cummins in its own fleet with a possibility of using it in the 07 model year,Personally you couldnt give me a 6.0l but put a cummins in a Ford and id seriously consider buying one for myself, Until then Dodge/Cummins is the only way to go. I know the general public sees a V8 as a good thing but seriously when you look at HD engines, what lives longer a 6 or an 8, the track record for IHC 466 ,cummins 5.9 , 855s ,N14 and cats 3406 speak for themselves.
