I have a 200tdi landrover. It has at some time got water into the diaphragm area of the pump this has resulted in loss of power but high mpg! The fuel delivery rate pin(attached to the diaphgram) will not lift out as it should and is in a rusty condition.I suspect that the pin that controls the fuel stop lever has siezed in its bore.
Does any one know how to remove this pin?The engine has only done 20,000 miles it seems an expensive option to replace the pump to fix this problem!
Has anyone got any drawings of this pump that may help me?
thankyou. jeff.

Billybob,
I can't be of any help on this,as i am unfamiliar with these, but out of interest as you mention the "diaphragm" are these pumps pneumatically governed?i.e throttle flap and venturi on intake manifold with vacuum/balance pipe running to pump.
I didn't think this set up was still in use.

The engine is turbocharged and boost is fed along a pipe to the pump which pushes down on a diaphgragm this ups the fueling and off you go!
But not in my case!

Hi! I had major problems with my VE pump until I found all the know-how on AULRO, Australian Land Rovers Online. There is a link from this site to:
www.dodgeram.com/technical/DIESEL/more_power/power_ve.htm
plus there is other stuff from France and elsewhere. If the link doesn't work any more, get onto AULRO (it's free to join) and follow the technical links at AULRO to get there.

My Defender was running like a Model T until I cleaned crud off the the fuelling rod and turned the diapraghm 90 degrees clockwise, which increases the fuel and hence power, and a few other minor mods that totalled about 1/2 hour. It now runs better than it ever did before from new.

Best of luck, Dunnie
