MY 95 GM 3500 HD DIESEL ONLY GETS AROUND 11 MPG AND HAS NO POWER, I HAVE HAD THE TURBO CHECKED OUT AND THE TURBO IS FINE. IS THERE ANYBODY WHO HAS THIS SAME PROBLEM OR HAS A 95 GM 3500 HD TURBO DIESEL? I HAVE ALSO HEARD RUMORS THAT THE FRAMES BREAK BEHIND THE CAB ON A FLATBED. (IS THIS TRUE?)

I have a 95 3500hd bucket truck with a manual trans. The truck weighs about 10,000 lbs, and I too get between 11 and 13 mpg. I'm not really disappointed in this type of mileage as most of the guys I work with seem to get 10 or less. If I drive conservatively on the hwy, like 60 mph, I get slightly better mileage. My truck is geared really low so it screams a lot less at a little lower speed. I don't know what you use your truck for or how it is configured, but I think you are getting about what you should be mileage wise.

As for the mileage, your whole drivetrain affects it as well as how you drive it. What is the ratio of your rear axle and transmission ratios for the different gears?
The 6.5L only was like 250hp and around 250 lb ft of torque, it's not like the diesels they are running today with around 600 lb ft of torque.
