Has anyone done a diesel conversion on an old Mustang?

I was thinking of dropping a ford turbo diesel into a pre-1970 Mustang.

Can this be done? About what is the cost?

Thanks,
Ryan

Yes, diesel is cool...
Here is my opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions..
In a MUSTANG????? I would not do it, mustangs are muscle cars, and while diesel certainly has muscle, it would be like putting a diesel in a vette, camaro, etc. Diesel cars should be sedans, not muscle/sports cars.

It certainly can be done, anything can be done if money and time are no object.
But I would not do it.

You would have to do a lot of work on a Mustang to get and good size diesel engine in a little ford.
Maybe a small VW engine or one of the old Detroit 3 cyl.'s would work.
I wouldn't wast my time !
Go big........put one of them gas sucken 460's in it.

What is the weight of the engine you want to swap to? The 6.9 I had weighed lots more than a even a 460. Cooling will be an issue. My 84 f250 diesel radiator was lots bigger than a 460 rad of the same year truck. The mustang might not take a radiator of the size you want.

DO IT! Go ahead, show the world what a Powerstroke will do in/to a 3000lb Mustang. I recomend some front end suspension upgrades.
