EVENING GUYS...I HAVE BEEN WITH A CAT DEALER FOR 7 YEARS, AND WAS LAYED OFF. GOT A JOB WITH A LOCAL TRANS COMPANY THAT HAS DETROITS, AND NOW HAVE BEEN OFFERED A JOB WITH FRITO LAY THAT HAS CUMMINS ISX ENGINES. THE LAST TIME I WORKED ON A CUMMINS WAS ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO WITH THE OLDER N14'S. I KNOW THEY HAVE CHANGED QUITE A BIT IN THOSE YEARS AND ASKING FOR ADVICE ON WHAT TO LOOK FOR, AND WHAT TYPE OF SPECIAL TOOLS I WILL BE NEEDING THAT THE SHOP USUALLY WONT PROVIDE. THANKS.

You,ll be an alrounder shortly ( cross trained ) !! Pre egr / dpf had troubles with fuel and timing actuators , belt tensioners , water pumps , wastegate actuators and controllers and oil coolers - gen II with egr on the hotside always play up as well as vgt actuators and cotrollers and egr coolers leaking - gen III ( which we,ve only had for 12 months ) with egr on cool side is alot better but still idle like crap and sound like the cranks going to exit the block under load - you,ll have most tools , there,s a couple of sockets you,ll need , timing wedge set for the geartrain , two bubble glass sets for the fuel system which you probably already have Regards David

I prefer to work on the isx over most engines. The worst thing about working on them' is if you have to pull the head on one you have to pull the cams to get the head bolts out.

'Listed a Perkins T6.354 on DieselEngineTrader and sold it after 5 month. With a listing fee of $5.00 per month and no commission, it was much cheaper and more effective than the magazine we also used.'

Chris Weeks, Old Forge Lake Cruises, New York, USA

'DieselEngineTrader.com was the first place I went to sell my engine and I started hearing from people as soon as the engine was posted. I got 8 inquiries in 10 days and sold it to a guy in Virginia.'

Barbara Mitchell New Hampshire USA

'Urgently needed a diesel engine for a generator set. Found one that suited on DieselEngineTrader. It is very easy to find what you are looking for!'
