Hi - can anyone help? I inherited the job of looking after a sports club Fergie fitted with a P3.
It's used for pulling gang mowers to keep the outfield cut, on a cricket field in the UK.
Can't find any helpful forums over here.

It had started breathing a good bit, but no black smoke except right at first start-up.
When I checked the (only) fuel filter ... there wasn't one! So I cleaned out the casing/housing and have ordered the correct filter.
In the meantime we cleaned the lube filter, bled the fuel system, fired and ran the motor again (by the way, it's been a pig to start sometimes ... and other times kicks off at first attempt using a decent battery and a bit of glowplug).
We had her under load for a couple of hours .. the regulator works ok, but still there is that sense of reduced power ... and the breathing continues.

She now runs with a higher oil pressure showing on the gauge (was around 40, now 60) and still breathes. As stated, we also reckon she's perhaps not quite as powerful as before all this happened. But no black smoke.
I read that it's possible to drop the pressure by opening the relief valve on the lube filter body, and thus limit the breathing, but that doesn't sound like a key step to take.... any views?

Before I start to do bigger stuff like take the head off and play around, etc, has anyone got some solid advice.???
We are not wealthy, not experienced, and not sure why she would be breathing ... other than it must be a relief of a pressure differential between above the pistons & below ???
