Hi,
I live in Scotland and I have a Searay Sundancer 290 sports cruiser which I keep on Loch Lomond. Problem is pretty thirsty what with two Mercruiser 4.3 ltr petrols a weekends boating can cost me £60- £100.00.So I wondered if someone could help, the boat has Alpha One outdrives and I'm looking for suitable diesels to replace the present engines, and if there is a market for the petrols as they were new in august 2001 and still carry warranty. If you want to contact me direct you can @ john@johnrome.co.uk
looking forward to your comments,

John.

Hi John,

Mercruisers, like all marine petrol engines after all, are pretty thirsty and with our European petrol prices that makes using petrol marine engines on a big boat quite prohibitive.
Have your ever tried using LPG as an alternative fuel to petrol? You can still keep your petrol engines and with a conversion you can just change over to LPG whilst running, at the flick of a switch. The capital outlay is a small fraction of the money you would need to replace your petrol units with diesel engines.
If you need any more information you can contact me on maurice@autogasmarine.com

Hi Maurice.
Very interesting......
I dont think that this mail original was to me, my name is Torben. But anyway, i'm very interested in what is standing in it. First, what is "LPG" ? is it light diesel? and next, what conversion do i need to make on my old engines? and how much power loss do you think a conversion will cost.
Best regard :-)

Hi Torben,

LPG is short for Liquefied Petroleum Gas. Conversions are available for all types of petrol engines and also for diesel engine installations where gas is injected together with diesel thereby obtaining up to 30% more power with a very significant decrease in particulates emissions.
Should you wish any more info. you may contact me on maurice@autogasmarine.com
