I have a 1984 Chevy P-30 StepVan (basically a UPS van) purchased from the Boston Postal Service. Back in '85/'86 Boston USPS repowered the fleet from the 350 v8's to all White-Hercules DT3.7HQX (3.7L Inline 4 cyl turbo diesels) motors. Back when I bought it in 1992 I replaced the fuel filter & water separator and "while I'm there" I replaced the transfer pump with an AC EP12S. All went well. Someone borrowed the van and ran it out of fuel. Apparently the transfer pump I put in in 1993 was weak and gave up the ghost when it happened. I picked up a Walbro WEP-38 for nothing, still in the box. Pulled the AC EP12S "high volume" (my butt) out and went to mount the WEP-38. No room for it to hang without fabricating a bracket off the White-Hercules retrofitted bracket where the filters are mounted inside the frame rail.
The question is, can I mount the WEP-38 in such a way that the pump is horizontal rather than vertical? Will it cause any problems? I'm looking to mount the pump off the 'bed rail' hanging down.
