i got a 1995 F-250 power stroke that won't stay running. It will start but dies in a matter of seconds. Checked fuel pump and that is fine. Replaced the starter b/c that was shot, put a new camshaft sensor in b/c that was shot also. Even bled the air out of the injection lines. Any thoughts or suggestions...please!

Check the following: Is your air intake restricted? Is there a lot of back pressure on the exhaust? Is the fuel return line blocked? Is the fuel filter or fuel line blocked? Is the fast idle working? Is there an air leak in the suction line(s)? Is the low idle set too low?

I will check all of that...thank you. I put in a new fuel filter. when it turns over it makes a loud knocking but it is only for a matter of seconds and then it dies. it's almost like there isn't fuel getting to where it has to go.

I would check the high pressure oil pump as this provides the pressure for the fuel injectors, could be the pressure regulator on the same pump.

i have a 2001 f350 with 7.3l diesel. the high pressure oil pum has been the reason my truck has not started 5-6 times over the past several months. we have changed the check valve that keeps the oil resovoir full and then the oil pump itself. all was fine for 4-5 months until today and it would not start. i removed a plug in the top of the oil pump and found very little oil in the pump, then filled the oil pump with oil, put the plug back in and it started up immediately. at least i know how to get it started, although do not know what else to do to resolve the problem. you say a pressure regulator on the oil pump maybe?
