A large air leak no matter where it is will cause a strain on the air compressor and have unnessasary load on the engine as well as your tanks will not be able to keep up and so the maxis will begin to apply and the truck will brake torque itself.

Fix your air leak first and good luck.

depends on what excatly you are calling an 'air leak'. are you refering to an air leak while pulling a hill. this would result in charge air cooler leak. possible hose from air compressor to intake. YES this will cause a power complaint. If you have a leak in the air system where as you lose psi on wither primary or sexondary side. NO this will not cause power loss. Or last but not least. Is this an air compressor leaking oil. Detroit has had a recall on 60 series air compressor head gaskets for excessive oil leak. Hope this helps

is this an egr detroit? it could be leaking at the turbo inlet pipe off the top of the air compressor, I have seen loss of power complaints with this being the primary failed item.
