We have a 3516 in a 793 (prefix-1HL) that has been rolled over and now the engine won't turn over easily. Engine oil has been found in the bottom of the aftercooler and the engine oil in the oilpan is thinner than it should be. The plan is to pull off the exhaust, turbos and disassemble the aftercooler in the unit. Then clean out the lower shell of the cooler and also the intake runners, examine exhaust runners as much as possible without taking them off, and follow that up by pulling the injectors and cleaning out all the cylinders and going from there. Anyone have anything to add to this or have I pretty much got it to that point?Thanks in advance for all who post advice, good or bad.

The big question is how long did it run after it went over? After a rollover, you need to do a full engine teardown. There could be internal damage such as bent connecting rods or bearing damage among other things. If it was insured, the insurance company should cover the cost. If you don't do a full teardown, you are only guessing. That's an expensive piece of iron to be guessing with.

The machine does have a rollover protection device which shuts off all ECMs when it sees greater than (we'll say) 45degrees for 1 second so the engine did not run on its side. At the moment we are assessing the damage to give the customer an estimate. I don't normally work on engines and didn't want to miss a critical step and I am on my own for now. I am sure I am on the right track for now. Thanks for your input. If nothing else, it's good to have confirmation I am doing it properly.
