89 Freightliner-3406b CAT

The jakes started getting intermittent-going on sometimes and sometimes not. Then, they stopped altogether. Then, they went on a little. I kicked the accelerator and tapped the clutch pedal. I discovered that when I put my toes under the clutch pedal and pulled up, I could get the jakes to work. That tells me the problem must be the switch on the clutch pedal.

But where is it? On my 93 FLD 120, it's inside the cab, right behind the clutch pedal arm. It's easy to adjust. But the 89 has the clutch going through the floor. I looked underneath and saw some kind of a part near the pedal arm, but it's about an inch away.

I found it. There is a piece of stiff wire coming out of the switch and it lies on top of the clutch arm. I was gonna wrap duct tape around the clutch arm as an adjustment, but it's a tough spot to reach, although not too tough to give a little shove on the switch mounting bracket. Problem solved.
