Does anyone know if the ECM is sealed from motor oil getting into it from the injector plug?

Motor oil works it way along the inside of the injector harness to the ECM plug, but will it push "into" the ECM "IF" the ECM is sealed properly? Or is the ECM only sealed from outside the plug?

Hard to explain. My question is, is a NEW ECM sealed when the plugs are not in place? Are the open 'sockets' air tight? Or does the plug need to be in it to complete the seal? (1999 year motor IV)

Well I just took one off the shelf and blew into the injector harness plugs (really wish I had washed it first) and it was air tight.

Thanks!

I'm just trying to figure out how worried I should be that motor oil got into my ECM. The injector harness has been replaced now and it runs fine. Sounds like I might be alright if the socket is sealed.

We just had a DD6 that 2 times the fan would run all the time and some other things going on. Looking for the problem I unplugged the harness and it was full of oil. rest of computer was dry. It ran down the injectors wires. They have name for it but I forget what it is. Put a new harness in.

Thanks for the input Brent. I few years ago my truck developed a miss. It would start cutting out at any engine speed and then run normal for a while. Detroit replaced the injector harness. They told me there was motor oil in the wires causing it to short out. The insulation on the wires looked fine. Truck ran fine after they replaced the injector harness.

I never could get my ohm meter to show motor oil conducting electricity (and I tried) but the truck ran fine ever since they fixed it. Recently I pulled the plug at the ECM and I found a little motor oil in there. I cleaned it out with contact cleaner spray and low pressure compressed air. I'll just monitor it. I don't know if the oil was left over from a few years ago or if the wire harness is bad again or if oil was in the ECM from the first injector harness and coming out now. I hope the ECM is still sealed. It's original never been off the truck. All the sockets and plugs are clean, no corrosion.
