1995 freightliner fl 70 8.3 cummins. Truck sat for 5 years, put in new batt and fired up and runs great. let it set for a few hours and start and the oil press does not register for about 5 seconds. It can also be heard that there is no press for that five seconds. oil must be running back to pan. Oil has been changed and new filter. Is there a check valve or something that would cause this? I am not going to start untill i find problem. This condition has to be very hard on bearings. thanks dsells00confused

Bottom of oil cooler is a 32 mm hex nut - inside that is the pressure regulating valve , oil pressure at idle is 10 psi minimum - pressure at rated rpm is 30 psi minimum , there is also a spring loaded check valve for the filter by pass which is in the filter head Regards David
