Hi, i was crusing with my sail boat yesterday and the next thing I heard some high pitched noise....then checked temp guage and it was max out open the engine room smoke / steam everywhere, I shut down the perkins 4-108 engine. I found the fan belt stripped. Where do I go from here? engine was running great, sounded good and tight....apx 2500 hrs on a 1996 rebuilt....i'm some what handy.

Fit a new fan belt, check the water level, check it turns over freely, and then try starting it . Often they are right when they cool.
