Some mufflers have directional arrows for a reason?? but I am also on another web site that deals with Ford diesels. They report that the removal of the original air cleaner on the earlier trucks [94 to 97] and replacement of an aftermarket filter and metal 45* elbo allows the turbo to 'spool' up faster and this change in airfiltration allows the operator to actually hear the turbo better. I still have 1 free air filter left so maybe next year for me to do this change. Your choice.
